Look, obviously I haven't been updating this regularly, and I'm probably not going to keep it updated as regularly as I'd like, but I do have some stuff to say now, so I'll say it.
First, the positive, which shouldn't take too long. I bought a new car. Yeah, the PT is gone. It will be missed. I traded it in for a new 2004 Neon SXT, which has served me well for a week and a half now and a few days ago I got a nice sound system dropped in there. I'm looking to get some nice rims for it too, but I think I should probably put my money toward some more important things.
We had our Halloween party last night and it was OK. I know most of the people who came had a good time, but honestly, I didn't. I tried to put on a happy face for awhile, but after a couple hours or so, I just gave up, got out of costume and headed to my room. I just wasn't feeling the party vibe, and since no one seemed particularly interested in talking to me, I just kind of excused myself.
Honestly, it's been more than three years since I've been on a date, and I'm wondering if it's ever going to happen again. I have no reason to believe it will, despite what everyone tells me. When I meet girls who I'm even remotely interested, it seems like they're only interested in me as a friend, or as a way to meet someone else. And my friends always ask me about what I do when I meet a girl who's interested in me. Well, when I find one, I'll let you know. Because I can't remember the last time that happened. The other pain in the ass thing about this is all my friends say things like "well, you have to just go for it." What the fuck do you think I've been doing? It's not like I'm sitting at this computer hoping girls will magically track me down. It's just that whenever I do "go for it" I end up with at best a tepid response, if any response at all.
I'm trying not to get too down about this, since I'm not currently missing anything special. It's not like I'm coming out of a relationship or anything. Still, constantly seeing people in happy relationships, or at least going out on happy dates, can be extremely frustrating. Plus, people at work feel the need to ask me for relationship advice. Honestly, how the fuck would I know? If I had any idea what to do in a relationship, you think I would have been dateless for the past four years? And don't get me started on setups. I don't know how many people have told me in the past few weeks "oh, I know the perfect girl for you" only to never introduce me. I guess I'm just not "boyfriend material." Whatever.
I know some people are going to read this and think I'm angling for a pity date. Well, I'm not. I'm way past that stage. I just wanted to get all this out, and then hopefully we can move past this topic. When I say "girls don't like me that way" let's just leave it at that, until we get any kind of proof to the contrary. Don't bother telling me you have a friend, unless you're going to bother to introduce me to that friend and you have a sense that your friend is interested in being more then friends. And until that time should come, I'm done trying to date. My life will be much less miserable without butting my head against this metaphoric wall.
I'm sorry I had to bore you with all this. Honestly, you probably don't care (or don't exist. I don't see any reason why anyone would still be reading this website after my lack of updates this month). No matter. By tomorrow afternoon there'll be a November page up here and this whole thing will be relegated to the archives, for no one to ever view again.

Welcome back...
Well, I went and had lunch with my mom on Thursday, hung out with Pooz, Moore, Brewer and Sarah (Pooz's girl) on Thursday night, so things are turning around and I'm not in such a bad mood anymore, so time to post. As for what happened to my Tuesday morning post, well I was still pissed off then, so I didn't do anything.
I'm not going to detail the entire past two weeks, but I'll touch on some of the highlights. First of all, I finally picked up an old school Bulls hat to go with my script Chicago jersey. At the same time, at Finish Line, I grabbed a fitted Colts hat to match my Harrison jersey. It looks real crisp. right now, the Harrison jersey has overtaken my Tomlinson jersey as my favorite, but it's also the newest. We'll see what happens six months from now.
OK, right now I have a fantasy football dilemma. I've got Clinton Portis, Deuce McAllister, Chris Brown and Warrick Dunn, and they're all playing, and I can only start two of them. Right now I'm going with Brown and Dunn, since they seem to be touchdown machines, while Portis has struggled and McAllister has only played two weeks. Still, this is a much tougher choice than my decision to go with Pennington over Vick at QB, especially since Pennington has more than doubled Vick in fantasy production this year.
In my other fantasy problem, it looks like I'm stuck starting Roy Williams, even though he may not play. My other two WRs available are Reggie Wayne (who has a bye) and Santana Moss, who is more likely to not play due to injury.
Our Halloween party is fast approaching, and don't forget, it's costume required. Of course, I may not even be there. My dad may get tickets for the Steelers-Patriots game in Pittsburgh that weekend. If he does, I'd probably go to that rather that stick around here for the party. Could you blame me? There's nothing quite like a live football game, especially in an environment like Pittsburgh, which lives and dies with its Steelers.
Speaking of the NFL, I should probably make some picks for this week, given that I missed last week. I'm gonna guess, even before I make these picks, that I'll be somewhere near .500. Which I've been every week. Stupid parity. Well, here goes not much (home teams in CAPS)...
•EAGLES over Panthers
•Bengals over BROWNS
•LIONS over Packers
•TITANS over Texans
•JAGUARS over Chiefs
•BILLS over Dolphis
•FALCONS over Chargers
•PATRIOTS over Seahawks
•JETS over 49ers
•Redskins over BEARS
•Broncos over RAIDERS
•Steelers over COWBOYS
•Vikings over SAINTS
•RAMS over Bucs
Guess we'll know in a few hours how things go.
I picked up a couple new posters this week. The final ROTK poster and an Ali-Liston door poster. They really complete my room, especially since I've got no wall or door space left. I did order the Spider-Man 2 trio of posters (Sacrifice, Destiny and Choice) and those are going to go above the DVD racks in the main entrance to the apartment. That means, of course, that I'll have to move Legolas's daggers, but I'll find a place for those in my room.
I also picked up NBA 2K5 for Xbox and I'm very impressed with it so far. The gameplay is smoother than last year, and the chemistry function makes season mode more interesting than just a series of games. Of course, with NBA 2K5 out, that means its almost NBA season (which didn't really dawn on me, despite that little countdown to the right). Even with that said, I don't really get into NBA season until football season is wrapping up in late January. Hopefully the Cavs will make a nice run this year and get into the playoffs. Also, hopefully this will be the year I get up to a Cavs-Celtics game. Maybe I can get someone to come with me, because I'd feel stupid driving two hours to go to a game alone.
As for this site, I'll try to keep things updated this week. As for DGOW and Versus, well, I'll make sure the current ones don't stretch into a third week. For now though, enjoy Kate Beckinsale's lovely visage for another day or so. Also, I'm hoping tomorrow or Tuesday (probably Tuesday, since I have the day off) to update the downloads page, to account for the new additions to the collections for the previous DGOW. No... put the script down...
So I'm getting ready for another day of work (day two of a six day stretch) and I figure I should probably get an update posted before I go, because I probably wouldn't be able to do anything on my lunch break anyway. Plus, I'll have to do SportsPickle.com tonight after work, so I wanted to make sure I got an update up soon.
Of course, I managed to split my picks in the primetime football games this week, meaning I finished the week, again, at 8-6. Still, that does leave me three games over .500 for the season (31-28). And I did finally get around to giving my record a spot on the sidebar, so look to your left and you'll see it.
Speaking of sidebar items, both the DGOW and Versus are updated this week. We've only got seven more Versus polls in the first round, so make sure you vote and have your voice heard. And for the person who voted for Geri Halliwell over Britney Spears last week, please take this seriously. We wouldn't want bad things to happen (like an "Underworld" sequel...oh wait, too late for that...).
Seriously, who thinks an "Underworld" sequel is a good idea. The movie was crap. Plain and simple. Kate Beckinsale can't act. Just let her do a Playboy spread and we'll be done with her. Someone needs to stop this from happening. Just imagine the bad things that could follow if an "Underworld" sequel is released. "AVP2" anyone? Yeah, didn't think so. Oooh, I know "Punisher vs. Hulk." Or maybe "LXG2 featuring Van Helsing." Perfect plan! (I'm kidding. Seriously. Hollywood execs, please don't make these movies. No one wants to see them. Not even the people in them.)
In news that isn't as scary as the idea of Kate Beckinsale "blessing" us with more Sci-Fi craptacularity, Pooz is working on an invitation to the Halloween party. Right now, it's set for Oct. 30 (Saturday) but we don't have a specific time. Costumes are required. Refreshments will be served.

Silver linings...
Well, it's right now another near-.500 week, at 7-5 in the afternoon games, but at least I've clinched a .500 record this week. If St. Louis and Baltimore manage to win the primetime games this week, I'll have gone 9-5, which is a record I'd be very happy with after my cruddiness to start the season.
What I'm not happy about is the Redskins loss to the Browns. I know I'm gonna hear about it from Brian, which I really don't care about. What has me pissed is the fact that Washington keeps losing games in the dumbest ways possible, which was something that was supposed to stop when Steve Spurrier left town. Turnovers are killing us, but what's hurting almost as much is the poor clock management. It's clear that Joe Gibbs is struggling with when to challenge calls, as it has cost the team two weeks in a row. I'm sure that by the end of the season, the team will have figured things out, but at 1-3, 0-2 in the division, things are slipping away early.
As for non-football stuff, I just got through watching another ass-tastic (and strangly Carpenter-free) episode of "Charmed." I'm not a fan of this "Agent Brody" character. Haven't we been down this road before with eeevil (extra "e"s for creepy effect) Agent Jackman from the end of season four? The problem with this show is the human "threats" are being given more creative efforts than the demonic ones. That's what happens when you kill off the "source of all evil" midway through season four and then create and kill an invincible super demon in the span of half a season, you've kind of screwed yourself over for future seasons. Hopefully they'll bring back season five's intriguing-but-underdeveloped "avatars" soon. From what I've seen on the rumor sites, this is a possibility. I'd be a fan.
As for shows that aren't ass-ier than J-Lo, I finally caught up with season two of "Dead Like Me." It's been so much better than season one, which was good to start with. I'm really impressed with how George has grown as a character, as the other characters have managed to stay interesting around her. The biggest development of the season, in my opinion, has been the further character development of Rube, who was the most mysterious character of season one. Now, we're getting to know a little bit more of his backstory, which has been a big payoff for fans of the show.
Well, after a nice three-day weekend, it's back to work for the next six days. That should be fun. Or not. Either way, I'll try to keep things updated here, so you all can follow along.

Quickie post
So I just woke up so I'm not really coherent enough to post a full update, but maybe in my semi-coherent state, I can pick NFL games better than I have while wide awake. After another middling near-.500 week (8-6), my overall record stands at 23-22, so I'm back in the black and ready to get a big jump on the win column.
Here we go.
•Pittsburgh over Cincinnati
•Indianapolis over Jacksonville
•New England over Buffalo
•Green Bay over New York Giants
•Oakland over Houston
•Philadelphia over Chicago
•Washington over Cleveland
•Atlanta over Carolina
•New Orleans over Arizona
•Denver over Tampa Bay
•New York Jets over Miami
•Tennessee over San Diego
•St. Louis over San Francisco
•Baltimore over Kansas City
If Washington doesn't win this week, I'm not going to be a happy camper. The 'Skins need a win to get back on track, and get the critics off Joe Gibbs's back. Gibbs is still getting re-adjusted to the NFL, and, don't forget, he inherited a team that was just 5-11 last season. So give them some time.
