Catching up...

Hey, I finally got around to posting those pictures I promised, you know, now that I got my camera back and all!

I also had a day off today :) so I’m posting a blog update. I went by the comic book shop today, but the new Angel comics hadn’t come out yet. They did have a “Hemery High” Buffy for $25 so I picked one up. I had already purchased one on eBay, so I added this one to the lot I’m selling on eBay. It did have a $249.99 Buy-it-now price, but someone already bid, so get your bid in soon!

I also watched some of my Netflix DVDs today: “Scooby Doo 2” and “Ice Princess.” Yes, I said “Ice Princess” starring Michelle Trachtenberg (aka Dawn). I actually enjoyed it. Sure, the skating wasn’t perfect (God, I’m sad for saying that) and as far as I know, ESPN has never televised a junior regional sectional qualifying event, with two Olympic medalists as the talent, but otherwise, the movie wasn’t bad. “Scooby Doo 2” was bad. But Sarah Michelle Gellar was cute. And that’s all that mattered.

Tomorrow it’s back to work, for the next 6 or 7 days, depending on which day I work at Apple next week (I wrote it down somewhere, but I can’t remember).

Jordans and more

OK, I may have been a little premature in calling the Air Jordan XXI the best sneaker ever yesterday. Not because they’re not awesome (oh, they’re very awesome. I actually wore them outside my apartment today and no fewer than three people asked me about them), but because I forgot about two other shoes I love.

First off is the Air Jordan 11 (pictured at top left), which is just amazing. Seriously. God, I want a pair of these. Shit, if Nike re-released them and charged $250 for them, I still think I’d buy them. Just look at them. They’re beautiful. Why did Nike stop making shoes like these (did you see the Zoom LeBron Ones? Total garbage).

The other shoe I really love is the Nike Air Force One. I have a pair of the 20th Anniversary Editions, which are white with navy blue accents and a “20th” logo. I still want to track down a pair of White-on-Whites, and then maybe a second pair to get dyed (Cavs colors, of course).

OK, moving on from shoes, ESPN.com has this new feature that may be the best thing ever. It’s the NBA Trade Machine. A few years ago, anyone could suggest some stupid NBA trade and call it “rumored” but then some expert would point out that the fake trade didn’t work under the cap. Well, now you can use this to come up with all kinds of crazy trades, and make sure they work under all sorts of NBA rules. For example, check this one out:

The Lakers send Lamar Odom and Chris Mihm to New York, which sends Channing Frye and Anfernee Hardaway (and his expiring contract) to Minnesota, which sends Kevin Garnett to LA. OK, sure, this would never happen (because, hey, why would Isiah Thomas want a talented player like Lamar Odom, when he can get a ballhog like Steve Francis), but the Trade Machine says it works (oh, and BTW, if this happens, I’m asking for my own column on ESPN.com, where I make stuff up and hope it comes true).

Also, I’m going to try to keep updating this site a little more regularly than every few weeks. Probably not daily, since I don’t do stuff worth writing about every day. Oh, and I’ll try posting more pictures, once I get my camera back from Sarah (long story, once which I’ll post once I have my camera back.

Air Jordan XXI - Best Shoe Ever?

OK, so I don’t normally write on back-to-back days (especially when I worked full shifts on each of them), but I had to post this. I just bought the Air Jordan XXI from FootAction and they may be the best shoes ever. Seriously. You know how when you put on a pair of sneakers in the store to try them on, and you know they’re going to be very comfortable. Well, the XXIs skip right past that. You put them on and they’re immediately very comfortable.

As I wrote to Pooz in an IM, “It’s like if Jesus himself made a shoe, then put lots of of logos on it, and charged $175 for it.” Plus, in addition to the comfort, these might be the best looking Jordans since the 13s (they didn’t start using Roman Numerals until the XIVs, aka the “Ferarri” Jordans). BTW, check the video below from Nike’s website. It’s like shoe porn.

Iguodala got robbed

OK, watching the dunk contest at work last night, two things came to me.
  • They need to fix the dunk contest. People shouldn’t get more than 2 attempts to make a dunk.
  • Andre Iguodala got robbed. His behind the backboard dunk was the best dunk since Vince Carter’s series of dunks in 2000. Ok, just check the picture above. Look at where his head is. He got under the backboard, then got the ball back up and in. It was crazy.
As for today’s All-Star Game, I couldn’t care less. Sadly the event I was most excited about today was the Olympics Ice Dancing. Yeah, that’s right, you read that. Ice Dancing. Have you seen Tanith Belbin? Wow. And besides, it’s actually a very beautiful exhibition (I refuse to call it a sport, on the grounds that it fails to meet my “competitors decide the outcome” rule.

As for tomorrow, I’m back at Apple for another day, which means I’ll be stuck following the Ice Dancing finals online. Still, they’ve been added to my DVR, so I’ll watch on tape delay with the rest of America (yes, I’m a sad loser, you don’t need to tell me. Once this is done, I’ll be back to watching basketball and counting down the days to the NFL Draft -- 68 days and counting!)

Working overtime...

So, in addition to working some OT at the new job, I’m now back at Apple working part time, to help supplement my income. I need the money mostly for gas, sadly, since I have to fill up pretty much every 4 days when I’m working.
I also need the extra money to buy things like that statue pictured to the left. At this week’s Toy Fair, Sideshow introduced a “Premium Format” Buffy. In addition to being 18 inches tall, it’s fully sculpted, which means no unsightly joints like that in Sideshow’s “Prophecy Girl Buffy”.
I’m also excited to announce that the page for Black Ops Comics and Internal Damnation is up, and well in advance of my prediction of “December.” Sure, the content is sparse at this point, but we’re working on that. Eventually the first issue will be up there, along with character descriptions. I’m also going to try to fill in my “Other Writings” section, as soon as I can track down my backup from when AdamReisinger.com had that section.
Oh, I’m also going to try and track down some of my stuff from LeBronJamesNews.com, because I want to see what I wrote about Darko Milicic. Now that he’s been traded, after being one of the biggest draft busts in NBA history, it’d be interesting to reminisce on what I thought he’d be back then.

Long overdue update

OK, so you may have noticed that the archive section got incredibly longer last week, while the new entries, well, were non-existent.
Yeah, that’s totally my bad.
See, I spent so much time going back and tracking down all my previous blogs and entries, that by the time I was done, I was too tired to actually write anything new.
But now, that’s not the case.
First up, I’m really enjoying my new job. It’s everything I ever dreamed of from a job, plus so much more. However, I am actually going back to Apple, part-time, because I could use the extra money, plus I miss the experience of working there. So, for the foreseeable future, my free time will be limited, but I think I’ll be able to make it work.
In other news, I moved some stuff around at my condo, relating to the display of my Buffy stuff. The picture to the left shows the new busts and PALz display. I was planning on adding more shelves for future PALz, but with Palisades Toys going bankrupt, there may not actually be any. However, the company that bought out Palisades’ licenses has promised that the Slayer’s Scythe will ship on March 6, so that’ll go next to the Sword of Angelus.
Also, Suncoast was having a huge going-out-of-business sale, so I finally picked up all 5 seasons of Angel on DVD. I’ve already watched all of them before (thanks to Netflix) but now I have them for my own personal collection (which I will find a way to get onto my iWeb site at some point).
As for other stuff that’s going on, I know I mentioned in a previous entry that Pooz and I were working on a comic. Well, the first issue has been written, and Pooz is in the process of drawing it right now. I’m working on putting up a mini-site for it, and will let you all know when that actually happens (though, given my track record lately, that could be sometime in December).
I’m also planning a trip to Chicago this summer, as I have back-to-back vacation weeks from work, and I hope to attend both the annual Slay-a-Thon at Dave & Buster’s as well as Wizard World Chicago, plus maybe a baseball game or two. I’ll let everyone know more as I know more.
Until then...
