Alone and tired...

Well, I've been home sick for the last few days... I haven't seen or heard from PooZ in about a week... and I'm pretty damn lonely right now...

this sucks...

This is one of those (many) times when I envy PooZ and his loving wife (who I will continue to make fun of in every Podcast we do from here to eternity, just because I'm like that)...

oh well... only 1 more month until PooZ moves, and I'm sure he's wrapped up in all that right now...

Tony Stark is the MAN

Because of all the hype over "The Dark Knight", some people have forgotten how awesome "Iron Man" was and how much of the fucking MAN Tony Stark is.

Well, forget no longer. This deleted scene from the movie just got released, via Access Hollywood, and it's awesome.

My favorite part? When Tony says to the two girls, "I'm thinking of a number between 1 and 5." That's the best pickup line ever. I'm definitely adding that to my list (oh, and I know in real life, saying something like that would get you slapped, but that's what makes Tony Stark so awesome. The girls respond, in unison, "three". Fan-fucking-tastic.

Miss Liukin if You're Nastia!

A couple weeks back when I did my Olympic preview, I had Shawn Johnson as one of my 7 athletes I’d be watching in the Beijing Games.

Well, I watched her last night (this morning, really), but the real U.S. gymnast to watch was Nastia Liukin.

The daughter of a Soviet gymnast, born in the Soviet Union, Liukin represents everything that makes America great. She came here as an immigrant, embraced America, and now America is embracing her in return (and yes, I know that reads like a lame promo for America, but deal with it. It’s the Olympics).

Liukin was the picture of grace in her routines. Her floor exercise was both flawless and beautiful, and put the gold out of Johnson’s reach (the 16-year-old from Iowa did settle for the silver).

How amazing was Liukin? Well, while some AP stories might have you believe that she “edged” Johnson for the gold, her 0.600 point margin of victory was actually tied for the 3rd largest margin ever. Amazingly, the performance she tied was Nadia Comaneci’s revolutionary performance at the 1976 Games, where she scored a perfect 10.0 on uneven bars.

And let’s not ignore the significance of the US’s 1-2 finish. The only countries to previously take the top two spots in this event were Romania (in 2000) and the Soviet Union (in 1952 and 1960), so this is a pretty big deal for USA Gymnastics.

Nike just does it again...

I don’t have much to say about this commercial, featuring shots of Team USA over Marvin Gaye’s incredible rendition of the national anthem. Just watch and enjoy (and if you don’t get chills watching this, you’re either dead or French...)

Yes I'm Alive

... I could leave it at that, but I won't, since PooZ probably wouldn't appreciate it.

I can vouch for everything he wrote in his post about buying a home. It's a pain in the ass, but then you realize "holy crap, I own my own home". It's a nice feeling.

Of course, a less-nice feeling is realizing that your buddy is moving on a day where you're likely going to be working, so you can't help him out. Then again, I helped PooZ with his last 3 moves (parents' house to Manchester apartment, Manchester apartment to Middletown apartment, Middletown apartment to Waterbury condo) so I think he'll let me slide on this one.
