PLOT SUMMARY
Taking direction from the diaries of the late Rupert Giles, Faith -- Giles's primary heir -- and the recently catatonic Angel face a demon that Giles had magically bound inside a young girl (a scene shown in flashback and "narrated" by Giles's diary). They succeed in their mission, and Angel returns to Giles's home, while Faith goes out and meets up with Nadira, one of the slayers who had served in Buffy's international Slayer squads. There, Faith learns that Angel -- in his "Twilight" phase -- was responsible for the death of Nadira's squad, though a pair of demons named Pearl and Nash were doing the actual killing. Those two meet up with Whistler, who is still trying to bring about the changes Twilight was supposed to, despite being cut off from the Powers That Be. Back at Giles's, Angel fills Faith in on what happened with L.A., some of what he can recall from being Twilight and his new mission -- (highlight for spoiler) bring Giles back to life. (end spoiler)
REVIEW
Covers
There are three covers for this issue, not including the super-limited Rebekah Isaacs New England Tour cover. The primary cover (above) is by Steve Morris, and is solid, though I feel like Angel's head is at a weird angle, given the direction his body is facing. I do really like Faith's pose in it, and the background sets the right tone for the setting of the series. The alternate cover is by Jo Chen, whose cover art was lauded throughout her run on "Buffy: Season 8". It's, as expected, spectacular, as she continues to nail her Angel likeness. The one quibble I have with her cover is that Faith's chest is disproportionately large, compared to Eliza Dushku. It's a comics thing, but it's really noticeable on the cover. The third cover is the Dark Horse 25th anniversary cover, by Georges Jeanty. I love the overall design, particularly the "25" flowing into the sewer and the demons hidden in the clock tower, but the Faith likeness is really off, particularly when compared to the other two covers -- and even when compared to the Angel likeness right next to it.

2011 Desktop Girl Tournament - Championship Round!
The 2011 Hottest Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament has finally reached the championship, and even once adjusting for the vote tampering (which was stopped after just a few hours), we had two massive blowouts in the semifinals.
Semifinal #1
- Emma Stone (78.7%) def. Rachel McAdams
Semifinal #2
- Summer Glau (89.3%) def. Sarah Michelle Gellar
I was rooting for Sarah Michelle, but it was pretty obvious early on that she didn't stand a chance. So it comes down to this:

Emma Stone vs. Summer Glau
The standard match-up breakdown will run tomorrow, then I'll have something special for Stone fans on Friday (edit: moved to Monday), and Summer fans on Monday (edit: moved to Wednesday). And if I get some time, I may throw up some extra content to keep interest in voting going next week. Then voting closes on Saturday, and on Wednesday, Sept. 14, I'll announce the winner here on AdamReisinger.com

Jersey Monday: Chris Cooley
We're fast approaching the start of the NFL regular season, so let's take a look at one of the few current Redskins jerseys I have, tight end Chris Cooley.
I picked this one up a couple years ago, and while it's a knockoff, it's still pretty high quality (and it only cost me $20, so I'm not complaining). It's also one of the only white Redskins jerseys I have, and the only one that's technically an authentic -- my other white ones are replicas, and low-quality ones at that.
I got this jersey after the '07 season, back when Cooley was coming off the best year of his career. He's dealt with injuries and inconsistent quarterback play for the last couple years, but did have a career-high-tying 849 receiving yards last season, and could be a key for Washington's offense again this year.
To be entirely honest, I don't have high hopes for the 'Skins in 2011. I'm not sold on the John Beck experiment, and there are plenty of holes on both sides of the ball. I would never advocate tanking a season, but if Washington went 2-14 this year, putting the 'Skins in a position to draft Andrew Luck, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, especially since I see their BEST case being 8-8.
Jersey Monday will continue every Monday until I run out of jerseys to spotlight. And since I’ve got more than 150 of them, that could be awhile.

The NY Mets Are My Favorite Squadron!
I follow the NBA with a passion that borders on obsessive-compulsive, and every Sunday from September through January, I'm parked in front of a TV for the NFL. But for some reason, there's no sport that can make me feel like a kid again quite like baseball.
On Thursday, I won a Twitter contest for four tickets to Friday night's Mets-Braves game at Citi Field. I found a copule of friends to meet me at the park, and headed down for "Social Media Night", which is one of the cooler things I've ever experienced at a baseball game. There was a pregame meet-and-greet with Justin Turner and R.A. Dickey, two of the Mets more active players on Twitter and two guys who happen to be among my favorite current players on the team -- for what could be called "child-like" reasons: Turner, because he's a redhead, and we have to stick together, and Dickey because he's a knuckleballer, and I've always liked unconventional pitchers. Both guys were incredibly cool about interacting with the fans, despite it being less than an hour before the game.
Just before the game started, I made my way to the Mets team shop. I needed an updated Mets jersey -- my only "current" one was of Johan Santana, who hasn't pitched in more than a year -- and as it turned out, they were having a sale: buy any pre-printed player jersey and get a blank jersey free. On top of that, customization of a blank jersey was free, as long as you weren't getting an active or retired player name on it (though I'm sure if your choice of retired player was obscure enough, they'd have no idea). I decided to take advantage of that and finally get a jersey with my own name and number on the back. Normally I wouldn't think about doing that, but it was free, and it really did make me feel like a kid going to my first game at Shea Stadium, way back in 1987.

DGOW Final Four Matchup: Summer Glau vs. Sarah Michelle Gellar
AdamReisinger.com will spotlight the two Final Four match-ups in the 2011 Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament. Today's match-up is Summer Glau vs. Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Analysis: So every week when I post the results of the previous round and the pairings for the next round, I always include the caveat that "if nothing goes horribly wrong" the schedule will proceed as planned. Well, yesterday, something went horribly wrong. I don't want to get into all the details, but an outside source was messing with the vote. It's fixed now, but it'll be interesting to see if that has any impact on the real votes going forward.
Prediction: As much as it pains me to do so, I have to predict a Glau victory in this one. But I'm still pulling for Gellar, and still not above lobbying, should it become necessary.

DGOW Final Four Matchup: Rachel McAdams vs Emma Stone
AdamReisinger.com will spotlight the two Final Four match-ups in the 2011 Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament. Today's match-up is Rachel McAdams vs Emma Stone.
Analysis: So far, McAdams has defeated three competitors with an average age just under 25, and she gets her second consecutive 22-year-old in this round. Stone hasn't really been challenged yet, so it'll be interesting to see how this matchup breaks down. I think Stone could get a boost because of her recent movie success, but you have to wonder if the creepy Jim Carrey video will work against her.
Prediction: I think McAdams will emerge victorious again. Just a hunch.

2011 Desktop Girl Tournament - Final Four
The 2011 Hottest Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament has crowned its regional champs, which means we are now in the Final Four. Now, there was a solid amount of time throughout the week when I was ready to be horrified by the results, but my voters came through in the end. Let's take a look at the Regional Finals.
Janet Pym Region
- Rachel McAdams (53.3%) def. Aly Michalka
Natasha Romanoff Region
- Emma Stone (77.8%) def. Emily Blunt
Carol Danvers Region
- Summer Glau (82.2%) def. Katrina Bowden
Jessica Drew Region
- Sarah Michelle Gellar (51.1%) def. Brooklyn Decker.
Honestly, after Michalka knocked out Sofia Vergara, I was kind of rooting for her to win this round, just to set up the "Easy A" showdown in the Final Four, but McAdams is a worth victor. And Gellar edged out Decker on the final day (thanks to some lobbying on my Twitter account), setting up a Whedonverse clash against Summer Glau.
Here are the official Final Four Matchups:

2011 Baltimore Comic-Con Wrap-Up
Way back in March, when I was putting together my plans for San Diego Comic-Con, I was leaning towards skipping this year's edition of Baltimore Comic-Con. It wasn't anything against Baltimore, I was just thinking I'd be "conned out" after San Diego, and I wasn't sure I wanted to spend the money or make the drive down. Then, a couple months back, Baltimore announced that Stan Lee was going to be the guest of honor this year, and they even set up a special Stan Lee VIP package. Well... you know how that was going to go.
As it turned out, I ended up having a great time this weekend, and I definitely would have regretted skipping the show.
Technically, I did skip out on part of it, since I left early Saturday to attend the Drew League-Goodman League basketball game in D.C., but I was still there long enough on Saturday to get quite a bit accomplished. I got onto the sketch list for Ron Frenz, who put together this magnificent Mary Jane for me:
Frenz had a long run on Amazing Spider-Man in the '80s, and more recently on The Amazing Spider-Girl, and was kind enough to sign the entire run of the latter for me. It was one of my favorite books to read before it was canceled, and we both lamented its demise.
Jersey Monday: Gary Neal
NEAL BEFORE ZOD!
But seriously, if there's one way you're guaranteed to get me to buy your jersey, it's to be a pro athlete out of Towson University, my alma mater. It's worked in football and baseball (though I still have to grab a Casper Wells jersey), and this season it finally happened in the NBA, when Gary Neal signed with the Spurs.
Had Neal not played a single game this season, I still would have bought his jersey, but he did play, and he played well enough to earn first-team All-Rookie honors. And while some fans probably still know him as "the guy J.R. Smith dunked on", his clutch three-pointer against the Grizzlies in the playoffs went a long way toward re-forging that reputation.
I didn't get a chance to see Neal play at all this past regular season -- and who knows when the next regular season will actually be -- but I saw him in action twice this past weekend, at the Melo League vs Rucker League game and the Drew League vs Goodman League game. Neal represented Baltimore in the former and D.C. in the latter, which makes you wonder who he'd represent if the reported Melo vs Goodman game happens this coming weekend. No matter who he plays for, he'll always be a Towson Tiger to me.
Jersey Monday will continue every Monday until I run out of jerseys to spotlight. And since I’ve got more than 150 of them, that could be awhile.

DGOW Elite 8 Matchup of the Day: Brooklyn Decker vs. Sarah Michelle Gellar
This week, AdamReisinger.com will spotlight a third-round match-up in the 2011 Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament. Today's match-up is Brooklyn Decker vs Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Analysis: I'm gonna put this as simply as possible: Decker beat Glee's Heather Morris, so I hate her. Geller is Buffy, so I love her.
Prediction: The voting is crazy close right now, but if Gellar doesn't win, I'm gonna be pissed. A vote for Gellar is a vote for America!

For the next two days, AdamReisinger.com will spotlight a third-round match-up in the 2011 Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament. Today's match-up is Summer Glau vs. Katrina Bowden.
Analysis: This is a battle between Esquire Magazine's Sexiest Woman Alive and every Sci-Fi website's Sexiest Everything Ever. Glau's won both of her matchups by more than Bowden's won hers, though that could just be a function of the pairings.
Prediction: This is the Internet, not a magazine, so I'm guessing Glau.

DGOW Elite 8 Matchup of the Day: Emma Stone vs. Emily Blunt
For the next three days, AdamReisinger.com will spotlight a third-round match-up in the 2011 Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament. Today's match-up is Emma Stone vs. Emily Blunt.
Analysis: I get more impressed by Stone every time I see her in something, though I haven't seen "Crazy, Stupid, Love" yet. I'd imagine I'll enjoy her in "Amazing Spider-Man" next year too. Meanwhile, while I think Emily Blunt is crazy hot, I really only liked her in "Devil Wears Prada".
Prediction: Stone's looking like an unstoppable machine at this point.

DGOW Elite 8 Matchup of the Day: Aly Michalka vs. Rachel McAdams
For the next four days, AdamReisinger.com will spotlight a third-round match-up in the 2011 Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament. Today's match-up is Aly Michalka vs. Rachel McAdams.
Analysis: Aly Michalka is this tournament's upstart. She appeared to be a toss-up in the first round, then was a huge underdog in the second round. McAdams has been kind of under the radar, as it was assumed Vergara would be here, but with the "Modern Family" star gone, she's probably the new favorite for the region.
Prediction: I thought this would be pretty close, but as of right now, McAdams is cruising. I honestly don't expect that to change now.

2011 Desktop Girl Tournament - Elite 8
The 2011 Hottest Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament has moved into the Elite 8, which means were down to just four match-ups, the regional finals. But before we get to that, let's check out the Sweet 16 results, where there was a massive upset.
Janet Pym Region
- Aly Michalka (51.4%) def. Sofia Vergara
- Rachel McAdams (62.2%) def. Olivia Wilde
Natasha Romanoff Region
- Emma Stone (70.3%) def. Austum Reeser
- Emily Blunt (58.8%) def. Keri Russell
Carol Danvers Region
- Summer Glau (61.8%) def. Laura Vandervoort
- Katrina Bowden (58.8%) def. Lyndsy Fonseca
Jessica Drew Region
- Brooklyn Decker (58.8%) def. Heather Morris
- Sarah Michelle Gellar (61.8%) def. Hayley Williams
I am honestly shocked that Sofia Vergara got eliminated this early. I really expected her to cruise to the Final Four, if not the entire title. This is like two-time defending champ Duke going out to Cal in the '94 NCAA Tournament.
Interestingly, this does set up a potential "Easy A" final four match-up, should things break the right way in the Elite 8. Speaking of that round, let's get to the match-ups:
Now, for this week's eight matchups, which will decide who moves on to the quarterfinals:
Janet Pym Region![]() Aly Michalka vs. ![]() Rachel McAdams | Natasha Romanoff Region![]() Emma Stone vs. ![]() Emily Blunt |
Carol Danvers Region![]() Summer Glau vs. ![]() Katrina Bowden | Jessica Drew Region![]() Brooklyn Decker vs. ![]() Sarah Michelle Gellar |
Those are the full third-round matchups this week. Now that we're down to four match-ups, the "Match-up of the Day" will only run on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, so don't be surprised when there isn't one tomorrow. Next week the Final Four begins. Assuming no disasters in scheduled voting, the championship match should be set on August 31, and voting on that will run through September 10. Then on Wednesday, September 14, I'll unveil the 2011 DGOW Tournament champion.

DGOW Sweet Sixteen Matchup of the Day: Hayley Williams vs. Sarah Michelle Gellar
Each day (twice on Saturday and Sunday), AdamReisinger.com will spotlight a second-round match-up in the 2011 Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament. Today's match-up is Hayley Williams vs. Sarah Michelle Gellar, the final match-up in the Sweet 16.
Analysis: Here's the weird thing about this matchup. Gellar has essentially been out of the spotlight for seven years, since "The Grudge" came out (though she's had some smaller, less successful projects in that time), which essentially covers the entirety of Williams's career. And yet somehow, they're both launching comebacks in 2011, Gellar with "Ringer" and Williams with a new Paramore album featuring a new lineup. What this means I have no idea, other than they're both really hot, and Sarah Michelle Gellar will always endure.
Prediction: Gellar with relative ease.

DGOW Sweet Sixteen Matchup of the Day: Brooklyn Decker vs. Heather Morris
Each day (twice on Saturday and Sunday), AdamReisinger.com will spotlight a second-round match-up in the 2011 Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament. Today's match-up is Brooklyn Decker vs Heather Morris.
Analysis: As much as I love Morris, and her character on "Glee", on pure hotness Decker should win easily. But DGOW has never been about pure hotness, and Decker's slim portfolio outside of modeling could come back to bite her in this matchup against Morris, who not only has "Glee" but her dancing background to lean on.
Prediction: The voting is very close right now, and I think the Gleeks out there could push Morris into the next round, but Decker seems like the safer choice.

Jersey Monday: LeBron James
Over on my basketball movie blog -- which you should probably check out if you haven't yet -- I just reviewed "More Than a Game", the 2008 documentary about LeBron James's St. Vincent-St. Mary's high school team that won three state titles and a national championship. So, after watching that movie, it only made sense to spotlight this jersey, one of two St. V-M LeBron jerseys I own.
Unlike my gold St. V-M jersey, which is a bootleg that I bought off eBay during his senior year of high school, this is an officially licensed throwback. However, strangely enough, this jersey is made by Nike, while the real Irish jerseys LeBron wore during his years at the school were made by Adidas. I noticed watching the movie that the real on-court jerseys had noticeable "three stripes" branding on the back near the arm holes, something that is obviously absent from this Nike reproduction.
When LeBron came out of high school, there was obvious interest in which sneaker company he would sign with. Though Nike was considered the front-runner for financial reasons, Adidas had the inside track, both from their sponsorship of LeBron's school and LeBron's participation in their annual summer camps. In the end, Nike's big money won out, which allowed them to make this jersey. This was part of the "Talented and Gifted" line released around '04 or '05 that also featured Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire and Paul Pierce among others.I still wish they'd also made a white St. V-M for LeBron, since that's the only one I'm missing.
Jersey Monday will continue every Monday until I run out of jerseys to spotlight. And since I’ve got more than 150 of them, that could be awhile.

"More Than a Game" directed by Kristopher Belman
Ask anyone for a four-word summary of "More Than a Game", and you're likely to get "the LeBron James documentary" as a response. While it's easy to summarize the movie as such, that doesn't even come close to covering the range of subjects covered in this 2008 release.
|
Over the next hour-plus, the movie documents the journey of that group, who grew up together, played AAU ball together, then went to Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary together, as they attempt to "finish the job" and get the national championship recognition they barely missed out on in the summer of 1999. The movie covers the meteoric rise of James, Dru Joyce III, Willie McGee and Sian Cotton as freshmen state champs at St. V-M and the rocky addition of Romeo Travis to the group the next year. The next year, they appear to be on their way to a national title a year ahead of schedule, as LeBron makes the leap from local star to national celebrity, but an upset in the state title game leaves them disappointed, and resolved to bounce back better than ever the following year.
As seniors, Akron's "Fab 5" face the impending end of their partnership, LeBron's continued celebrity and the backlash that comes with that, and one of the toughest schedules ever put together for a high school team. In the end, the movie comes back to where it started, with the 2003 state title game, and covers in the ups and downs of that game in painstaking detail, with St. V-M emerging victorious, completing a four-year journey.
REVIEW
I probably should have had someone else review this movie, since my fondness for LeBron is pretty well-known, making me less than an objective viewer when it comes to anything LeBron-related.
Of course, as I mentioned in my intro, this isn't just "the LeBron James documentary." It's stronger for focusing on the other subjects, particularly the Joyces, rather than just being "LeBron before the NBA." In many ways, the story of the team and the group of friends is much more compelling than LeBron's story by itself.
Like any good scripted movie, this documentary is at its best when the subjects are dealing with conflict, either internal or external. The insight into the relationship between James, Joyce, McGee and Cotton and the "outsider" Travis (who transfered into St. V-M as a sophomore) was incredibly interesting, and I loved how Belman introduced it after the success of the sophomore season, then let it linger in the background of the junior year before bringing it back in the aftermath of the loss to Roger Bacon.
As great as the early stuff is -- particularly the AAU footage of a young LeBron -- the documentary really hits its stride when it gets to the part of the story that most of us know: LeBron's explosion onto the national scene in his junior and senior years. Part of that is a natural consequence of Belman's access to the team (he wasn't filming them for a documentary during their first two years at St. V-M), but it's what sets this team apart from any other successful high school team.
Given how we've become immersed in the LeBron circus for the past eight years in the NBA, it's easy to forget just how extraordinary the level of attention LeBron received in high school was. The senior year coverage was particularly insightful with the initial backlash against LeBron. I'm loathe to use this word, but LeBron's been dealing with "haters" since 2002, which has to be draining on an individual.
If you're watching the documentary for some insight on LeBron James's psyche as a player, particularly in the aftermath of "The Decision" and the 2011 Finals collapse, it's not always evident on the surface, but the overall documentary does present a picture of what LeBron's comfort level is, and it does touch on the lack of a true father figure in his life. Also, I found it particularly interesting that Joyce, who'd been LeBron's coach for his formative learning years, didn't have a basketball background before his son got into the game. You have to wonder how much of an impact that had on LeBron.
As great as everything with LeBron is, the heart of the movie is coach Dru Joyce II and his son Dru Joyce III. The latter gets his "one shining moment" as a freshman in the state championship game, when he came off the bench to hit seven three pointers and propel St. V-M to victory. It's like Ollie from "Hoosiers" coming in to hit those free throws, but it's really happening. If you can watch the 14-year-old Joyce ("generously listed" at 5-foot-2) come in and hit those 3s and NOT smile, you might be dead inside.
The elder Joyce gets his time to shine at halftime of the championship game in 2003, and Belman does a nice job building to this. At various points in the film, the director introduces the viewer to Joyce's reluctance to take the head job at St. V-M, his unorthodox introduction to the sport of basketball and his insecurity over the loss in 2002, and it builds to the first half of the 2003 championship game, where Alter takes a lead into halftime. Joyce's halftime speech isn't quite Al Pacino in "Any Given Sunday" or Kurt Russell in "Miracle", but in that moment he finds the right words for THAT group of players, and they go out and get the national championship. Even if you already knew the result of that game -- and obviously I did -- it was still cool to watch.
THE BASKETBALL
Because Belman wasn't following St. V-M from the '99-00 season on, a lot of the early games in the movie rely on archive footage, and the AAU tournament that starts the narrative in motion is actually shown using old home video. But the actual on-court product is polished, and captures both the skill and unity of this team. Plus, it's great to see that old footage and remember just how much better LeBron was than everyone else on the court, particularly in his junior and senior seasons. It seems absurd to say that a 17-year-old should have been playing in the NBA, but LeBron had pretty much outgrown high school in all ways by his senior year.
There was one thing that bugged me about the basketball, and that was a game that wasn't shown. They briefly mention LeBron's junior year showdown with Carmelo Anthony, and you see one quick clip of Carmelo dunking, then a headline about LeBron winning the one-on-one battle, but there's no real footage from the game, nor is the outcome ever mentioned. It's disappointing, especially given how much they focus on the St. V-M/Oak Hill game during LeBron's senior year.
NBA EQUIVALENT
If we're picking a moment from LeBron's career, it's not quite the "48 special" or the game-winner against Orlando. Wanna know what it is? It's Game 6 of the 2007 conference finals against the Pistons. Everyone is watching because of LeBron, and LeBron is the compelling storyline, but he gets a lot of help from his supporting cast, led by an undersized guard who bombs away from 3.
BETTER OR WORSE THAN A LOCKOUT?
Better. But I couldn't help see LeBron's resolve following the 2002 loss to Roger Bacon and the way he tore things up in '03 and wonder if we're going to be denied a LeBron Revenge Season by the lockout.
DGOW Sweet Sixteen Matchup of the Day: Katrina Bowden vs Lyndsy Fonseca
Each day (twice on Saturday and Sunday), AdamReisinger.com will spotlight a second-round match-up in the 2011 Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament. Today's second match-up is Katrina Bowden vs Lyndsy Fonseca.
Analysis: As I said last round, this probably should have been a first-round matchup for balance purposes, but as it is, Bowden and Fonseca meet in the second round in a battle of two of the youngest contestants the field. They both appear semi-frequently on sitcoms, but for Fonseca, that's only through archive footage in "How I Met Your Mother." Her bigger role is in "Nikita", which just doesn't have the high profile of "30 Rock."
Prediction: Bowden in a close one.

DGOW Sweet Sixteen Matchup of the Day: Summer Glau vs Laura Vandervoort
Each day (twice on Saturday and Sunday), AdamReisinger.com will spotlight a second-round match-up in the 2011 Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament. Today's first match-up is Summer Glau vs Laura Vandervoort.
Analysis: As I pointed out last round, Summer Glau has a tendency to dominate these types of Internet votes, but Laura Vandervoort has a vocal fan base too, and they came out in droves in the first round. Either way, one of these sci-fi hotties is going out this round, which is going to be disappointing to many.
Prediction: Glau's ahead now, but I could see Vandervoort pulling off a comeback.

Each day (twice on Saturday and Sunday), AdamReisinger.com will spotlight a second-round match-up in the 2011 Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament. Today's second match-up is Autumn Reeser vs Emma Stone.
Analysis: Just by looking at their pictures, I would not have guessed there's an eight-year age difference between these two. And while they both advanced by comfortable margins in the first round, Stone has the higher profile right now, with "The Help" -- her latest movie -- getting early Oscar buzz.

DGOW Matchup of the Day: Keri Russell vs Emily Blunt
Each day (twice on Saturday and Sunday), AdamReisinger.com will spotlight a second-round match-up in the 2011 Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament. Today's first match-up is Keri Russell vs Emily Blunt.
Analysis: I'm honestly still surprised that Russell beat Alison Brie in the first round, and I think Brie would have given Blunt more of a run for her money. As it is, the British actress has a much higher profile than Russell, with 3 more projects due out in 2011, and a number of big roles lined up for 2012. Interestingly, she's slated to co-star with Brie in 2012's "The Five-Year Engagement", so because of Russell's upset, we were denied a showdown of future co-stars.
Prediction: Blunt with relative ease.

Each day (twice on Saturday and Sunday), AdamReisinger.com will spotlight a second-round match-up in the 2011 Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament. Today's first match-up is Rachel McAdams vs Olivia Wilde.
Analysis: McAdams won by a surprisingly large margin in the last round, proving that I might have underestimated her overall popularity in this contest. Wilde obviously should have the internet vote working in her favore, but one can't help but wonder if the "geek girl backlash" will work against her.
Prediction:I think Wilde eventually takes it, but wouldn't be surprised if McAdams advanced again.
